Our Optometry Clinic in Stoney Creek has six doctors: Dr. George De Rubeis, Dr. Michael Starcevic, Dr. Amy Reid, Dr. Kristin Person, Dr. Jeff McAlear and Dr. Felicia De Rubeis to assess your vision.
All our Doctors are experienced and trained to diagnose, treat and manage all diseases and prescriptions of the eye.
Our friendly and experienced staff will provide you with excellent service and advice for all your eye care needs. Our staff includes Pam, Shari, Linda, Deborah, Marisa, Keilyn, Zoe, Lizy, Nina, Dora, Elizabeth, Elaine, Melanie and Gohar.
The Doctors of Optometry will provide comprehensive eye examinations for patients of all ages. Our optical dispensary offers hundreds of designer frames to choose from. The doctors and staff are available to ensure proper dispensing and fitting of spectacle frames and lenses.

Dr. George De Rubeis graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree and Doctor of Optometry degree. Dr De Rubeis owns and operates the Optometry Clinic of Stoney Creek since 1989. He is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists, Ontario Association of Optometrists and is also a member and Past President of the Hamilton and District Society of Optometrists. As a Board certified Doctor of Optometry in the use of topical and oral therapeutic agents, Dr. De Rubeis is innovative in his evidence based approach to the assessment and treatment of all ocular disease and eye conditions; and promotes an optimal vision for all age groups. He is committed to continuing education and staying current on the latest developments in optometric practice and research.
Dr. De Rubeis was born and raised and continues to live in east Hamilton with his wife Joanne and 4 daughters. He enjoys outdoor activities all year round. He also enjoys volunteering within his community and supporting a variety of causes and charities.
Dr. Michael Starcevic graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1997 with his Doctor of Optometry degree. Prior to that, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from McMaster University in 1993. He joined the Optometry Clinic in 1998. He is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists, Ontario Association of Optometrists as well as the Hamilton & District Society of Optometrists.
Dr. Starcevic was raised and continues to live in Stoney Creek with his wife and 2 kids. He spends his free time volunteering as a youth soccer coach in the community. He also enjoys outdoor activities and photography.
Originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Dr. Amy Reid moved to Hamilton and graduated from McMaster University in 2005 with a Bachelor Degree in Health Sciences. She went on to earn a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 2009, after which she joined the family friendly team of professionals at the Optometry Clinic of Stoney Creek. In her final year of study Dr. Reid completed an advanced ocular disease rotation in Houston, Texas, where she received training on the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists, the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Hamilton District Society of Optometrists. Dr.Reid practices full scope optometry, but especially enjoys seeing families and children of all ages. In her free time, Dr. Reid enjoys spending time outdoors swimming, biking and hiking with her husband and two young children, playing softball, and traveling.
Dr. Felicia De Rubeis graduated from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts in 2018, as a Doctor of Optometry. She achieved her Honours Bachelor of Science Degree from Western University in London, Ontario in 2014.
Dr. De Rubeis also completed extensive optometric training throughout the United States in various states including Massachusetts, Florida and New York. She worked alongside many optometrists and ophthalmologists at private eye care clinics, medical centres and Veterans Affairs hospitals diagnosing, treating, and managing various eye diseases including glaucoma, cataracts, corneal diseases and retinal diseases. She is board certified and licensed in Ontario to prescribe topical and oral therapeutic agents for the treatment of ocular conditions and is well trained in the fit and management of all contact lenses. Dr. De Rubeis is a member of the Hamilton and District Society of Optometrists, Ontario Association of Optometrists, Canadian Association of Optometrists and the College of Optometrists of Ontario.
Dr. De Rubeis is proud to have joined her father’s optometry practice providing comprehensive eye exams for patients of all ages and ensures all patients receive the most optimal care by incorporating her experience from her extensive training into her daily practice. Dr. De Rubeis is passionate about volunteer work including the participation in a mission trip with VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) where she provided eye care in the Dominican Republic. She also currently volunteers as a coach for Hamilton Challengers Baseball Association and enjoys giving back to her community. When away from the office, Dr De Rubeis enjoys skiing, playing beach volleyball and doing yoga.
Dr. Jeff McAlear was born and raised in Cambridge, Ontario, and completed his undergraduate degree in Biomedical science at the University of Waterloo. He graduated from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA, in 2013 with honours. Dr. McAlear is a board-certified optometrist and a current member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists, Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Hamilton District Society of Optometrists. He previously worked in private practice in Toronto before joining the Optometry Clinic of Stoney Creek in 2015, where he quickly felt at home. Through his combination of education, clinical externships, practice and volunteering abroad, Dr. McAlear has gained extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases and visual conditions, and has a special interest in pediatric eye care, dry eye disease, glaucoma management and specialty contact lenses.
As a proud Hamiltonian, Dr. McAlear can be found on weekends exploring the city’s many hiking trails, live music events and burgeoning food scene.
Dr. Kristin Person received her Honours Bachelor of Science before graduating with her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo. During her studies, Dr. Person completed an externship in ocular disease and therapeutics at The Eye Foundation of Utah in Salt Lake City. While there she participated in advanced aspects of therapeutic eye care, including Cataract, Glaucoma, Retinal and Extra-ocular muscle surgeries and management. She also completed two externships in primary care.
In 2009 she was honoured with the Dr. W. Ross Andrews Prize for Clinical Proficiency and was presented with the O.S.I. Award for Excellence in Practice Management in "recognition of demonstrated leadership in the areas of professionalism and communication skills."
Through volunteer medical eye care missions, Dr. Person has donated her time to provide eye care to underprivileged locals in developing countries including Zihuatanejo, Mexico and Piribebuy, Paraguay.
Dr. Person is a member of the Hamilton and District Society of Optometrists, Canadian Association of Optometrists, The Ontario Association of Optometrists, and the College of Optometrists of Ontario.
Dr. Person practices full scope optometry and enjoys the one on one relationship between doctor and patient in our practice setting. When away from the office she enjoys travelling and spending time with her husband Patrick and their two children.
